Mathematics Research
Undergraduate
I did research about number bases other than Base 10 and their connections to different cultures and fields outside of mathematics with Professor Jon Oaks of Macomb Community College. We co-authored the publication listed above for the AMATYC Journal.
I completed an elective research paper in MAT 5600 for the Honors Option. I was instructed to research and write a paper about the series solution to a second order linear differential equation with polynomial coefficients. This supplemented and extended upon ideas from coursework completed in the previous semester in MAT 2150 and MAT 5070. Below is the paper:
I completed a research project in MAT 4990 with Dr. Isaksen in my final semester of undergrad. This consisted of reading and summarizing graduate level articles from math journals, followed by a presentation of my summaries and what I learned. I was also presented questions related to abstract algebra where I was expected to construct proofs. This served to prepare me for my graduate program during my senior year. Below is a document of the written summaries and proofs:
Graduate
Throughout Fall 2020, I did research about elliptic functions and modular functions, as well as worked through any necessary proofs, under the supervision of Dr. Isaksen. Throughout Winter 2021, I synthesized my research and proofs into a Master’s Essay. It is attached below:
